DININGS SW3 | KNIGHTSBRIDGE, LONDON
This was a very special and unique project. The brief was to create an installation of authentic Japanese masks for the fabulous Japanese restaurant in Knightsbridge. The Noh Theatre masks were sourced from thirteen different dealers in Japan, American and Europe. Some of the masks are nearly five hundred years old. Each mask is housed in its own special wood frame, lined with hand made Japanese papers. Historic explanations accompany some of the masks, printed inside the frames in digital and gold leaf inks. Bespoke metalwork was created for two extra frames, showcasing the antique tools from a Japanese mask maker in the 1930’s.
